The Mossman Endowment of McGill University presents the
Elizabeth B. McNab Lecture in the History of Science. Emily
Thompson, Professor of History at Princeton University, will speak
about the role of projectionists during the period of 1926-1933,
when many played a significant role in creating, as well as
reproducing, film music and sound effects for theater
audiences.
Emily Thompson is a historian of technology who studies early
twentieth-century America. Her current research focuses upon the
transformation of technical work during the transition from silent
to sound motion pictures in the American film industry.
