Information Session: FRQSC’s Start‐Up Program for New Research Professors
The Office of Sponsored Research is pleased to invite McGill researchers and administrators to an information session about
FRQSC’s Start‐Up Program for New Research Professors

For your convenience there will be two sessions offered:
Date: Thursday, August 27th and Tuesday, September 1st, 2015
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Location: James Administration Building, Room 301
The purpose of the FRQSC’s Start‐Up Program for New Research Professors is to assist new researchers who have just launched their careers to become established as independent researchers and to become competitive nationally and internationally.
New researchers in social sciences and humanities, arts and literature, who are planning to apply to the upcoming FRQSC Fall 2015 competition are encouraged to attend this information session that will include:
- brief presentations about the objectives and requirements of the Start-Up Program for New Research Professor Grants by Grants Officers Lauren Clark and Joanna Mastalerek;
- presentations of McGill researchers with experience as grant awardees under this program. They will provide potential applicants with insider information about strategies for creating a successful proposal.
On Thursday, August 27th, the presenters will be
- Prof. Anna Berman, Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and
- Prof. Thomas Dotzel, Faculty of Management
On Tuesday, September 1st, the presenters will be
- Prof. Frédéric Mégret, Faculty of Law and
- Prof. Vandna Sinha, School of Social Work
- a question and answer period where participants will be encouraged to raise any questions they may have about the program or the application process. Those who are unable to attend or who may not feel comfortable sharing their questions are invited to send their inquiries to joanna.mastalerek [at] mcgill.ca (Joanna Mastalerek) (ext. 7300) or lauren.clark [at] mcgill.ca (Lauren Clark) (ext. 4880) in advance so that they may be included in the session.
