Erika Ritter is a writer whose work covers a wide range of mediums, including stage and radio drama writing, essays, travel writing, fiction, and non-fiction.

Additionally, she has been a humour columnist and an award-winning CBC Radio host.

Ritter has become particularly known for her research into the psychology and philosophy of human-animal relationships, which culminated in her recent book, The Dog by the Cradle, the Serpent Beneath.

At a time when animals are increasingly among us and yet continually below our radar, Ritter's work offers timely observations on the social, cultural, and legal paradoxes of human-animal relationships.
