Is Animal Law in Private Practice Possible?

Monday, February 13, 2012 17:30to19:00
Chancellor Day Hall 3644 rue Peel, Montreal, QC, H3A 1W9, CA

The McGill Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) presents a talk by Rebeka Breder, a Vancouver lawyer who has successfully integrated animal law into her general corporate commercial litigation practice.

She will be discussing her experience practicing animal law in a corporate firm environment and sharing how she began the practice in a firm that wasn't previously active in this field.

About the speaker

Rebeka Breder practises general corporate commercial litigation and animal law at Boughton Law Corporation in Vancouver. Her animal law practice includes acting for both plaintiffs and defendants in veterinary malpractice suits, representing clients whose animals were injured as a result of tainted food (product liability claims), acting exclusively for dog owners whose dogs are facing destruction orders as a result of being designated "dangerous/aggressive/vicious" dogs, and acting for veterinarians in professional disciplinary complaints.

Rebeka is the founder and Chair of the first Animal Law section of the Canadian Bar Association, which she formed in 2008. She is also on the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Humane Society.

Attendance is free.
