Dr. Tadataka Yamada is President of the Global Health Program of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In this role, he oversees grants for programs directed at applying technologies to address major health challenges of the developing world including TB, HIV, malaria and other infectious diseases, malnutrition and maternal and child health. As a researcher, Dr. Yamada has made significant contributions to the field of gastroenterology, and prior to joining the Gates Foundation, he was Chairman of Research and Development and a Member of the Board of Directors of GlaxoSmithKline. His exceptional experience in the clinic, the classroom, the boardroom and the streets and villages of the world give him a unique perspective on global health.
