Welcoming Dr. Catherine Jarvis as the new Director of Faculty Development

The Department of Family Medicine is thrilled to welcome Dr. Catherine Jarvis as the new Director of Faculty Development.

Dr. Jarvis holds an MD from the University of Alberta and completed her residency training in Family Medicine at McGill University, followed by fellowship training in Maternal-Child Health and Palliative Care. She has been a member of the Department’s Faculty Development Committee and was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor in 2018.

Dr. Jarvis is a clinician at the CLSC Côte-des-Neiges and often practices at the Maison Bleue, a not-for-profit organization affiliated with the CLSC, which helps marginalized pregnant women and their families. As the Faculty Development site lead at the CLSC, she has assisted in the development of several workshops, including “Teaching Residents to Teach” and “Academic advising for clinical supervisors” and has been a small group facilitator for the online course “Fundamental Topics in Faculty Development for Clinical Teachers in Family Medicine.”

As the incoming Director of Faculty Development, Dr. Jarvis will be in charge of designing, implementing and evaluating programs and activities that promote faculty development and scholarly work in teaching units and beyond.
