uApply (Graduate Admissions System) - Synchronization error when saving

Graduate applicants using the uApply system may see the following error message when attempting to save their application form:

Synchronization error

An error occurred during updating the item. This is because the item has already been modified by another user or in another session.
The page should be reloaded in order to synchronize with the latest changes.


The error may occur after an applicant has chosen their Program of Study, when attempting to submit responses to several program-specific questions. It is more likely to occur the longer the form is open, between responding to the questions and clicking Submit.

If you see this error message, it means that your data cannot be saved; you will have to reload the form and re-enter the data.

Our team is working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.  In the meantime, please try the workaround tips below.


Since this error is more likely to occur the longer the form is left open, we suggest attempting to fill out the form as quickly as possible:

  • Submit with dummy data, correct responses later.
    When you open the form initially, you can simply fill each field with a few dummy characters and click Submit. This will allow you to save the rest of your application data, and you can later go back in and fill out each response in more detail.
  • Copy the uApply questions to an external editing app, such as Word, Notepad.
    Take your time to work on your responses and save them in the app. Then refresh the uApply form and copy/paste your answers into the form.
