McGill Faculty of Education offers Bachelor of Education programs for kindergarten and elementary, high school, second-language, physical education, music education, among other undergraduate programs that lead to teacher certification. In addition, students that already have a relevant undergraduate degree in a teachable subject can take a two-year Master's of Teaching and Learning (MATL) to become certified to teach.

All teacher education programs have hands-on student teaching components, placed alongside an experienced mentor in local schools. In 2021, more than 500 McGill student teachers were placed in local schools, playing vital roles in the lives of their students and colleagues.

Apart from Montreal-based programs, teacher education is also offered in select Indigenous communities throughout Quebec and focuses on land-based learning. Distanced and alternative student teaching placements are also offered.
