McGill professor recognized for her work on technology-supported education

The Ordre de l’excellence en éducation du Québec has named Professor Susanne Lajoie a Senior Fellow in recognition of her significant contribution to the quality of education in Quebec.

Lajoie is a Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Canada Research Chair in Advanced Technologies for Learning in Authentic Settings. Over the course of her career, she has contributed to the development of more than 20 technological innovations to enhance learning and teaching across all age groups and institutional contexts, both nationally and internationally.

Working at the intersection of psychology, education, and computer science, Lajoie has designed technology-rich learning environments (TLEs) that encourage deep and sustained learning. A renowned and forward-thinking researcher, she has developed tools that help learners thrive in an ever-changing society by supporting complex reasoning, emotional management, expertise, communication, and perseverance in both STEM (science, medicine, computer science, engineering, and mathematics) and non-STEM (education, history, and psychology) disciplines.

Lajoie will be presented with the honour at a ceremony early in the summer.
