SIS is pleased to announce PhD candidate Chong Hu as FRQNT recipient!
Congratulations to Chong Hu, PhD in Information Studies student at the School of Information Studies (McGill University), has received a Fonds de Recherche du Quebec - Nature et Technologies scholarship! The FRQNT scholarship is awarded on basis of research and academic merit.
Chong's research:
Granfluencers, social media influencers aged 60 and above, have become a growing presence across digital platforms. While much attention has been paid to their role in challenging age-related stereotypes and the personal benefits they gain, such as increased digital skills and social connection, little is known about how strategies used by technologically savvy older adults, as granfluencers, can inform technology development. Chong's research investigates how the successful digital experiences of granfluencers can guide the technology design that better supports them and older adults in content creation. This project will offer new insights for age-inclusive technology design and highlight the meaningful digital participation of older adults.
