Professor Roy Lyster, of our Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE), was presented with the 2017 Robert Roy Award by the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT).
The Robert Roy Award is named in memory of the late Robert Roy, a distinguished Canadian second language educator and founding president of CASLT. The award was conferred upon Dr. Lyster "in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the advancement of second language education". CASLT rewards the important contribution of the award-winners by granting them a lifetime membership to the association. Professor Lyster (photo-left) received the award last week in Gatineau at the CASLT Networking Day from CASLT President Jim Murphy (photo-right).
Roy Lyster is Professor of Second Language Education at McGill University in Montreal. He serves on the editorial boards of Studies in Second Language Acquisition, Language Teaching Research, and the Journal of Immersion and Content-Based Education. His published works include several articles on content-based second language instruction and the effects of instructional interventions—such as teacher scaffolding and corrective feedback—designed to counterbalance form-focused and content-based approaches. He is the author of Learning and Teaching Languages Through Content (2007), and Vers une approche intégrée en immersion (2016).
