Professor of Practice Sujata Madan Receives Prestigious Academy of Finance Excellence in Teaching Award

The Desautels Faculty of Management is pleased to announce that Professor of Practice Sujata Madan is the recipient of the 2021 Academy of Finance Excellence in Teaching Award. This prestigious award is given annually to recognize excellence in teaching, to encourage teachers to share experiences that have led to them becoming great educators and how they continue to improve their teaching skills.

The Academy of Finance selection committee, while impressed with the accomplishments of all applicants, expressed that Prof. Madan exemplified qualities that are particularly relevant in today’s climate. This includes extraordinary student engagement, even throughout the transition to online learning as well as clear plans for bringing lessons learned during online learning back to the face-to-face classroom setting. They were also impressed by her implementation of in-class surprises which keep students engaged and excited to come in each day.

The Academy of Finance is an international nonprofit organization whose basic purpose is the development and recognition of individual efforts in the field of finance and insurance. Congratulations on this stellar accomplishment, Prof. Madan!
