The violent nature of anti-Black racism in the United States has conveniently served Canadians for a long time to ignore racism in their own country, warns Prof. Adjetey in a CBC interview of June 7. Even if Black people have been a smaller minority in Canada than in the United States, they do not live in a non-racist society. Because racism in Canada is more subtle, it is easier to overlook its manifestations. "In Canada, anti-Black racism is as old as Confederation."
