Personal Financial Essentials course teaches key investment concepts concisely
Personal finances should be important to everyone, and over the past three years, more than 200,000 people have signed up for McGill’s free Personal Financial Essentials online course. Desautels’ Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs Benjamin Croitoru spoke with The Just Word podcast about how the course fills an unmet need. “If you want to become the best investor possible, there's a lot that you need to know, but the basic principles don't take a lot of time to teach,” says Croitoru. “You have literally thousands of choices of how to invest your money, but the key principles that make most of the difference, in my opinion, are quite simple. I really believe that in less than 30 minutes, it's possible to teach the ideas that make 80% of the difference.”
