McGill Flu Shot 2019

Published: 23 October 2019

With cold and flu season slowly picking up again, many McGill students have been asking about accessing the flu vaccine on campus.

The Student Wellness Hub will be offering flu vaccines in late November only to the following populations:

  • Adults who have certain chronic diseases (as defined by the eligibility criteria of Quebec’s Flu Vaccination Program)
  • Pregnant women, in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of their pregnancy
  • Family members who live in the same household of a child under 6 months of age or a person at higher risk of being hospitalized and to their caregivers
  • Health care workers

We’ll share more information about how eligible students can get their vaccine in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, because the Quebec government no longer offers free flu vaccines to the general population, we can no longer offer flu shots to the rest of our students who do not identify as one of the above-listed groups.

The Post-Graduate Students’ Society (PGSS) will also be offering a free flu vaccine clinic for their students who have Studentcare or Blue Cross health insurance on Monday November 18th

Quebec’s annual flu vaccine campaign begins on November 1st, 2019. As of that date, flu shots can be accessed for a small fee (usually between $10-30) at many locations around the city, including pharmacies, clinics, and CLSCs. It’s recommended that you check locations near you to confirm the cost before booking your appointment.
