Materials Engineering professors George Demopoulos and Karim Zaghib help create McISCE-the McGill Center for Innovation in Storage and Conversion of Energy

The Centre (www.mcgill.ca/mcisce) hosted by the Faculty of Engineering will focus on advanced but cost-competitive battery materials and devices, green hydrogen, new carbon-free fuels and alternative energy carriers that are critical in the energy transition. The Centre will integrate research, innovation and training activities from strategic resource element recovery, process and product design, advanced material synthesis and recycling, to device development and manufacturing, prototype demonstration, technology transfer, entrepreneurship, policy and environmental and socioeconomic impact. The initial slate of members of over 20 researchers across various departments and Faculties includes professors Brochu, Gauvin, Lee, Navarra, Omelon, Ouzilleau, and Waters.
