It's Sikh Heritage Month! Join the MSSA for Three Special Events!

Published: 28 March 2025

April is Sikh Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich history, resilience, and contributions of Sikhs in Canada. This year, the McGill Sikh Students’ Association is hosting three events open to all, to celebrate Sikh heritage, values and teachings.

Sikhs have long been a vital part of Canada's story, including in academic spaces, forming communities that can learn from the past, and build a stronger future.

Registration is required for these events, and a single registration form allows you to sign up for one or more at once. Anyone interested in volunteering can mcgill.sikhs [at] ssmu.ca (subject: Sikh%20Heritage%20Month%20events%20volunteering) (email the MSSA).

Canada's Sikh Heritage Month started in Ontario in 2013 when NDP leader and MPP Jagmeet Singh moved to celebrate the month of April as Sikh Heritage Month. Since 2019, April is officially Sikh Heritage Month across all of Canada, where all provinces join in the celebration.
