It is with deep sadness that The McGill School of Social Work announces the passing of Teresa Dellar, M.S.C., MSW, PSW, FT, co-founder and Executive Director of the West Island Palliative Care Residence since 2001 and cherished field instructor and course lecturer of the School of Social Work from 2007-2014. As one former student at McGill writes, “Teresa was such a warm and caring person. Able to explain the art of communication and the importance of listening. I think of her often in my practice”.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Gavin Fernandes and their two sons, Jonathan and Nicholas. She also leaves behind her extended family and a large community of friends and colleagues. Teresa’s death represents a significant loss for the social work and palliative care communities.
