IMHL participant celebrated as leader in TB treatment

IMHL participant, Dr Daksha Yeshwantlal Shah, Deputy Executive Health Officer, Non-Communicable Diseases and MIS Public Health Department, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), has been recognized by the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) for her outstanding efforts in advancing the diagnosis and awareness of TB in Mumbai, India.

In spearheading the TB Active Surveillance initiative, Dr Shah is commended for identifying a 20% rise in the number of extensively drug resistant TB cases in Mumbai in 2017 and for her work towards upgrading diagnostic facilities for early detection in Mumbai, which has played a pivotal role in creating awareness and detection of the growing health hazard.  

Dr Shah will receive her award at the OPPI Annual Summit on Friday, July 13, 2018 in the presence of colleagues from pharmaceuticals, healthcare and allied industries
