Flu Vaccination Campaign 2020
With cold and flu season picking up – especially during COVID-19 – many members of the McGill community are interested in obtaining a flu vaccination. Quebec’s flu vaccine program launches on November 1st and is free for people who are most at risk of developing complications. Individuals who are not at risk, however, must pay for these vaccines.
Some of the individuals included in Quebec’s free program include:
- Children from 6 months to 17 years old who have certain chronic diseases
- Adults who have certain chronic diseases
- People in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of their pregnancy (or at any stage in the pregnancy if they have certain chronic diseases)
- People aged 75 and over
- Family members who live in the same household of a child under 6 months of age or a person at higher risk of being hospitalized and to their caregivers
- Health care workers (including students in health care programs with placements in hospitals)
- Healthy children from 6 to 23 months old
- Healthy people from 60 to 74 years old
Due to the COVID pandemic, the Student Wellness Hub cannot provide vaccinations as our services are restricted to essential medical evaluations only. If you qualify for a free vaccine, click here to find a provider near you. It's important to note that due to social distancing and the need to safeguard everyone’s well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic, the vaccine is offered in Quebec clinics on an appointment basis only.
For students who do not qualify for a free vaccine, many pharmacies and private labs offer vaccination services in Montreal (prices generally range from $15-30):

Student Health Insurance Coverage for Vaccines
Students covered by Studentcare (SSMU/PGSS) or Blue Cross do have some coverage for vaccinations, however students may have to pay up front and submit the receipt for reimbursement. Please review your insurance coverage before you make an appointment.
