Donny Kennedy wins Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching: Course Lecturer

During the Fall 2021 Convocation ceremonies, exceptional educators at McGill are awarded the Principal’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching. The award recognizes the commitment of outstanding teachers who create the renowned academic experience McGill provides to students year after year. Donny Kennedy, a dedicated educator in the Schulich Jazz Area, takes home the Principal’s Prize in the Course Lecturer category.

Donny, a saxophonist, has been the coordinator for jazz combos since his debut teaching at the Schulich School of Music 22 years ago. He organizes 20-25 ensembles a year as well as teaching Jazz Arranging and Jazz Saxophone. He is beloved to students for his leadership, experience and position as a motivated role model and mentor. Also a recipient of the 2020-2021 Teaching Award in the part-time category, Donny is known for his organic approach in helping students comprehend difficult concepts as well as sharing his love and passion for music to all.  Congratulations on this latest recognition for your continued commitment to music education, Donny!
