DISE's Janine Metallic interviewed by Le Devoir
Janine Metallic, PhD student from our Department of Integrated Studies in Education (DISE), spoke to Le Devoir's Caroline Montpetit this week.
Metallic spoke about her work teaching and preserving the Mi'kmaq language in her home community of Listuguj, Quebec. Janine’s PhD research with DISE focused on the language stories and experiences of young adult Mi’gmaq who learned their heritage language as a second language. She successfully defended her PhD in June, 2017.
This fall, Metallic will be a course lecturer, teaching Indigenous Feminisms (GSFS 307) at McGill's Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Feminist Studies (IGSF). Visit migmaq.org for more Mi'gmaq Language Resources.
