We also had many students obtain training awards.

I would also like to express my admiration for everyone who applied. I am very proud of the depth and breadth of the research programs across the Department of Surgery. I am told it was an extremely competitive year and the investments required to apply to a program at this level are significant and very much appreciated. I am confident that this work will pay off towards designing research programs and applying for other funding opportunities in the future.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Professors Fackson Mwale and Jake Barralet for establishing the early career investigators mentorship program that started in January 2021 to help prepare applications for this and other external funding competitions (https://www.mcgill.ca/experimentalsurgery/early-career-investigator)
