Webinar | Envisioning Tourism Differently

Monday, May 17, 2021 12:00to13:30

With the closing of provincial and international borders, the habits of tourists from here and elsewhere have been somewhat disrupted. Forced to stay at home, many city dwellers have traded in their foreign vacation packages for a home getaway.

Over the past year, local tourism has seen a resurgence of interest. In Montréal, as in many other large metropolises, city dwellers have reappropriated the many parks and other green spaces, transforming them into true places of communion. In addition, citizens and organizations have worked together to beautify neighborhoods, streets and alleys. The pandemic has thus allowed many innovations in tourism that could eventually redefine our vision of Montréal.

How can we redefine the tourism experience in times of pandemic? What has been the impact of the health crisis on the tourism industry in Quebec and, more specifically, in Montréal? What can history teach us about the evolution of this important economic sector for our cities and regions? These are some of the questions that our guests will try to answer in this last meeting of the series "Rethinking the City in Times of Pandemic."

Hosted by Magda Fahrni and Daniel Weinstock, this event will gather experts in urban planning and tourism to explore this theme in depth.
