How can enterprises participate in the ecological transition?

MR-63 and the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Montréal (CIRM) invite you to take part in the second meeting of the miniseries The F-MR Lab, hosted by Stéphanie Barker (Space for Life Foundation). Far from being the sole responsibility of governments or even individuals, the operationalization and success of the ecological transition also involve the efforts of the industries, businesses, and economic actors of the city.

From the first sketches of its permanent building, MR-63 wishes to subscribe to principles of sustainable development, carbon neutrality, and biophilia to guide the construction of its building and its management. This also implies questioning the circular economy, waste reclamation, and environmental impacts of the supply chains, for the materials used both in the construction of the building and the design of its cultural and gastronomic activities.

What actions can social and cultural enterprises take to participate in the ecological transition and environmental justice? What are the indicators needed to evaluate an ecological strategy in terms of procurement, management, and operation of an enterprise like MR-63?  What are the requirements for designing a sustainable building in 2021? Is it possible to be an example of sustainable development internationally by using Quebec technologies?

Facilitator:

Panellists:

  • Mylène Champagne — Member of the Sustainable Strategies Committee, MR-63
  • Bechara Helal — Director, School of Architecture, Université de Montréal
  • Véronique Lemieux — Coordinator, Vignes en ville

Through four monthly meetings, the F-MR Lab explores possible issues and questions that arise from the creation and management of MR-63, a future venue for art, design, and gastronomy in Montreal.
