Abstract: Biologists, mathematicians, and physicists tend to be generally ignorant of the rich connections between their disciplines—connections that have been in existence for decades if not centuries. In this non-technical talk, I will trace some of these threads and discuss how they are even now being extended in the new areas of biological research of the 21st century.
