Canada’s China Policy: Drawing on his more than 35 years of diplomatic and business experience in and with China, Howard Balloch will discuss the policy challenges posed by a rapidly changing China in an increasingly uncertain global environment. This event is open to the public.

About Howard Balloch

Howard Balloch was Canada’s ambassador to China from 1996 to 2001. For the next fifteen years he remained in China as a merchant banker. The firm he founded in 2001 was acquired in 2011 by a global investment bank. Today, Howard is a partner at PacBridge Partners, a Hong Kong based private equity firm. He was also President of the Canada China Business Council from 2001 to 2006, and was in 2020 honoured by the Council as the individual who has contributed the most to relationship building between Canada and China since the establishment of diplomatic relations.
