McGill team delivers World Alzheimer Report 2021: Journey through the diagnosis of dementia

Tuesday, September 21, 2021 08:00to09:30

Diagnosis of dementia is still a major challenge globally, with an estimated 75% of cases still going undiagnosed and long wait times.

A team of McGill experts, led by Drs. Pedro Rosa-Neto, Serge Gauthier, José A. Morais and Ms. Claire Webster, were commissioned by Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) to deliver the World Alzheimer Report 2021, Journey through the diagnosis of dementia.

The McGill team’s combined experience and expertise in research, care, education and lived experience in dementia-related illnesses has resulted in a tangible, meaningful and inclusive report on the diagnosis of dementia. It includes over 50 essays from leading experts around the world, and is supported by findings from three key surveys sent globally to clinicians, people with dementia and their care partners, and national Alzheimer and dementia associations.

We invite you to learn more about this report, which shines a light on a pivotal moment in the evolution of diagnostics and potential treatment breakthroughs.

The World Alzheimer Report 2021 will be launched on World Alzheimer Day, September 21 at 8 am EDT. To watch the ADI launch webinar, register here.

The following day, on September 22 at 12:00 EDT, the four McGill co-editors of the report will be joined by Chris Lynch, ADI’s Deputy CEO and Director of Policy, Communications and Publications, to discuss the key findings of this report during a special episode of McGill Cares.

Please note that the link to this McGill Cares webcast will be available on Wednesday, September 22 at 12:00 EDT. It will be posted on our website at that time and will remain available for viewing after the webcast.
