Panel conversation with Marcy Goldman of Better Baking and staff of the McGill Library. Lemon Meringue. Pecan. Maple. Steak and Kidney. There is a pie for every palate and there should be some on every plate! Join ROAAr and guests for a pie appreciation conversation on 3.1415 - pie appreciation on the day after Pi-day. Bakers and panelists will talk through their experience adapting historical pie recipes from the McGill Rare Cookbook Collection. Tune in for a tasteful discussion of successes, changes in baking practice, and the sweet vs savoury debate.

Join Jason Dupuis, an enthusiastic amateur baker from our own library staff, librarian Kristen Howard, a vegan historian, and Marcy Goldman, McGill Alumna and professional baker, for a scrumptious discussion of our favourite comfort food.

About the Speakers

Kristen C. Howard is the Liaison Librarian for History, Classics, Indigenous Studies, and Religious Studies at the McGill University Library. Kristen has a PhD in History and a keen interest in food history.

Marcy Goldman is a Montreal-based cookbook author and professional trained pastry chef (as well as a McGill English Literature grad!) She's a contributor to the Washington Post, Costco Magazine and hosts her own baking site, Betterbaking.com since 1997. Currently she is at work on a new cookbook on breads which will be her 15th cookbook title.
