Abstract: Moving through the world requires constructing a description of the external environment from internal sensory information, using that description to develop a navigational strategy, and turning that strategy into motor commands. A combination of experimental and theoretical work in flies has illuminated all three of these points, resulting in a remarkably complete account of fly navigation.
