McGill Global Health Programs is delighted to invite the McGill community to a special book launch event featuring McGill Alumna, Dr. Maureen Mayhew (BSc’82, MDCM’86), who will share her remarkable journey through her experiences as a family doctor, clinical professor, and certified leadership coach. Dr. Mayhew's dedication spans over three decades, providing primary care and leading public health programs across Canada, Asia, and Africa.

Currently working with the BC Physician Health Program, Dr. Mayhew's life-changing mission with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) / Doctors Without Borders in Afghanistan in 2000 served as a catalyst for her commitment to supporting the Afghan people in rebuilding their healthcare system. With a focus on improving maternal and child health in remote settings, her transformative work has made a lasting impact on her personal mission to make a difference in healthcare.

Join us as Dr. Mayhew discusses her new memoir, "Hand on My Heart: A Canadian Doctor's Awakening in Afghanistan," offering compelling personal recollections encompassing moments of growth, disorientation, wonder, and joy.
