About Maxime Picard-Deland:

Maxime is a Medical Technology Specialist at OpSens Inc, a Quebec City based company that manufactures medical instruments with fiber-optic sensors. He developed an interest for multidisciplinary projects and biomedical application during his studies in Mechanical Engineering at Laval University. His Master's degree involved growing living tissues from human cells and shaping them into aortic valves, to further test them in a mechanical heart simulator. Soon after beginning at OpSens Inc., he was assigned to the fitting project of a new guidewire dedicated to the implant of transcatheter aortic valves. He participated in every phase of the product development, from shaping the very first prototypes on the corner of a table to assisting cardiologists during the First-in-human clinical cases. Now, he is doing conceptual work on new product ideas.
