Speaker: Amy Finn, Ph.D.

Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Toronto

Bio: Dr. Finn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto. She has secured funding from multiple sources including project-oriented grants from NSERC (Discovery program) and SSHRC (including two Insight program grants and an Insight Development grant), infrastructure related grants from CFI, ORF and NSERC, and a career award (Connaught). Her work seeks to understand how developmental tradeoffs emerge from children’s ongoing cognitive and brain development, accrual of world-knowledge, and development of attention and learning systems. To unpack how and, more importantly, why children learn differently across
development, she crosses traditionally disparate research disciplines—using tools from child development, cognitive science, cognitive neuroscience and education.

The Feindel Virtual Brain and Mind (VBM) Seminar Series will advance the vision of Dr. William Feindel (1918–2014), Former Director of the Neuro (1972–1984), to constantly bridge the clinical and research realms. The talks will highlight the latest advances and discoveries in neuropsychology, cognitive neuroscience, and neuroimaging.

Speakers will include scientists from across The Neuro, as well as colleagues and collaborators locally and from around the world. The series is intended to provide a virtual forum for scientists and trainees to continue to foster interdisciplinary exchanges on the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of brain and cognitive disorders.
