Equity in AI: Building technologies that work for all
Wednesday, November 20, 2024 11:00to13:00
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly impacting how we learn about the brain and take care of our brain health. While AI has potential to support equity, such as by facilitating access to health care, it also brings major risks of deepening biases and harmful processes that are already present in our society. Proactive, intentional practices are key to building technologies that benefit a diverse population and foster well-being for all.
Sign up for a two-hour virtual workshop with Falisha Karpati, PhD to learn how to:
- Identify sources of bias and potential harms across the AI life cycle, from study design to deployment.
- Learn about social and technical practices that you can implement in your projects to address bias and facilitate fair, inclusive outcomes.
- Explore examples of real projects from medical imaging, health care, social services and other fields that demonstrate equity-related risks and benefits.
The workshop will combine speaker presentations, independent activities and optional group discussion.
All are welcome; no previous AI experience is needed.
This workshop will be held virtually on Zoom.
