Bioethics and Research

Friday, November 16, 2018 11:30
Raymond Building R3-045, 21111 Lakeshore Road, St Anne de Bellevue, QC, H9X 3V9, CA

Sponsored by the Institute of Parasitology. With special guest speaker Dr. Cesar Fiuza, Professor of Private Law, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil

The seminar seeks to establish a connection between bioethics and human dignity, mainly within the scope of scientific research. In this sense, human dignity must be understood as a right
and also as an obligation, a principle of responsibility that must be disseminated pedagogically between sciences, arts and professions. In fact, the decisive motive of human dignity is the welfare of each and everyone. It must be guaranteed by the legal system and become the moral content of every individual’s actions in his social relations. It is imperative to devise a perspective in which human values and biological knowledge can be produced with ethical engagement. This argument concretizes the bulk of this seminar.

Dr. Fiuza received his PhD in Private Law, Federal University of Minas Gerais. He is currently a Professor of Private Law at the Federal University of Minas Gerais, at the Pontifical Catholic University of the State of Minas Gerais and at FUMEC University. He is a lawyer and legal consultant.
