Last week the Schulich School of Music hosted the McGill’s Rising Stars event. The gathering saluted some of the most exciting and innovative new researchers across our campus, recognizing the success of social science and humanities researchers recently awarded SSHRC Insight Development Grants and/or FRQSC Nouveaux Chercheurs funding.

The Montreal Canadians will have a new head physician. Dr. Vincent Lacroix, an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Program Director of Sports Medicine at McGill, held the position for four years. He is also Assistant Director of the sports medicine clinic at McGill, and co-founder and general manager of the AXIO Health Group.

Seeing Evolution in Fast Motion

Close to one hundred experimental ponds at the Gault Nature Reserve for examining the impact of climate change and pollution on Quebec’s lakes

A new outdoor laboratory will serve as a facility for studying the effects on our lakes of climate change and chemicals commonly used in Quebec. It features a series of 96 experimental ponds containing 1,000 litres of water from Lac Hertel on McGill University’s Gault Nature Reserve in Mont St. Hilaire. This network of ponds, named LEAP (Large Experimental Array of Ponds), was opened on September 2, 2016.

We are delighted to welcome new colleagues, visiting professors, and fellows to the Faculty of Law. First, Professors Mark D. Walters and Kun Fan have joined the Faculty, arriving respectively from Queen’s and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

We are also welcoming Li Ka Shing Professor of Practice Cliff Manjiao Chi, from Xiamen University Law School, and Li Ka Shing Junior Fellow Dr. Hongqin Mu, from Shantou University Law School, who are both spending the fall term at the Faculty.
