The 39th annual McGill sports award gala recently celebrated the university's top athletes for the 2015-16 intercollegiate season. Education students played a major role: Mélodie Daoust was named as female athlete of the year for McGill University; Vincent Dufort captured the Richard Pound trophy.

Hamilton News' Ian Burns interviewed Faculty of Education student Dan Williams for a recent article about his success with McGill's lacrosse team. McGill's Redmen lacrosse team enjoyed an undefeated season in 2015. Currently studying for his B.Ed. in Secondary Education, Williams hails from Ancaster, Ontario, and served as captain of Team Ontario's men's lacrosse team. Hamilton News also spoke to McGill lacrosse coach Tim Murdoch.

CALGARY, Alta. -- Hockey Canada announced Wednesday that Jamie Kompon (BEd (PE) 1989), a McGill University graduate from Thunder Bay, Ont., is among three head coaches named to lead the three Canadian teams at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in August.
