Real-world exposure is key to Desautels’ program, with all students taking part in a 10-day international study trip and completing an experiential component consisting of a paid internship, study-abroad experience or field practicum.
MBA students at the Desautels Faculty of Management are immersing themselves in the world of the performing arts as a way to improve leadership skills through a unique workshop in collaborative leadership which uses theatrical improvisation techniques. Taught by actor, writer and producer Rob Nickerson, the workshop includes a series of progressively layered exercises in which students come to both intellectually understand and also experience the benefits of collaboration; seeing when it is present and also when it is absent.

MBA students Sankalp Sachdeva, Brandon Groper, Nico Drohojowski, Abolfazl Keighobadi Lamjiri (Professional MBA), and Vasu Subrahmanian, won the prestigious Consulting prize and ranked 2nd overall at the 2015 USC Marshall Global Consulting Challenge.
A number of the Silver and Magic Circle law firms are offering to part fund MBAs as a method of retaining their top performers, according to recruitment firm Legal Professionals. The legal recruitment specialist revealed that firms have become increasingly creative with their retention methods in an effort to prevent talent with three to five years’ experience from moving on. One way of doing this is to tap into the growing trend of some lawyers who are looking to develop wider business skills.
On March 13-14, McGill students Amanda Chalupa (MSc in Social & Transcultural Psychiatry), Alyssa Wiseman (MBA-Law), Attiya Hirji (BA in International Development), Lida Faridian (MBA) and Vivien Leung (Law), also known as team MILA, are headed to San Francisco to vie for the US$1 million Hult Prize to launch their social program.
