For the continual improvement to our IT security service, and to meet McGill’s evolving administrative and research security requirements, McGill IT Services will be upgrading the antivirus version available to LAN administrators to focus on improved threat protection. This increased security measure will enable the institutional version to leverage features already available in the home version provided to the McGill community.

We have received word that the vendor has not been able to extend the old license key. If you have Trend for Mac installed and you see a message saying the "Trial Expires on December 31", you will need to enter a new license key to activate it for 2017. Please follow the instructions in step 2 of the article Install Trend Micro Antivirus for Mac.
Users may experience false positive antivirus pop-up messages from Trend Micro OfficeScan when accessing previously known and trusted websites. The pop-up message states that a Web security policy violation has been detected for a given malicious URL. Trend Micro is currently investigating the issue; we apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
If you have Trend Antivirus for Mac, you may have noticed a message saying the "Trial Expires" December 31, 2015.The license has now been extended for another year, till December 31, 2016. Just click on the words “Trial Expires” and the new expiry date will take effect (you need to be connected to the Internet).
The latest versions of McGill-provided FREE antivirus software, Trend Micro Internet Security 10 for Windows & Antivirus for Mac 2016 are now available.
If your personal computer/laptop isn’t already protected by antivirus software (or you’re using an older version), we urge you to install one of the new versions without delay!
All McGill University full-time faculty, staff, and students can download and install Trend Micro antivirus software for use on their personal computers.

Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security 2014 is now available for Windows and Mac, for home use. This antivirus software is provided by McGill, free for full-time students, faculty and staff to install on their personal computers. Due to the continued threat of Cryptolocker and other similar malware infecting computers on campus, all email messages containing .zip attachments with an executable (.exe) file will be flagged as spam and quarantined by the Anti-Spam Service. Emails that are quarantined are not delivered to your Inbox.
IT Services is now offering a new antivirus and online threat protection software: Titanium Internet Security for Mac, available for all Mac operating systems from OS X 10.5.8 and up. This includes the latest version of Mac OS X 10.8.
In addition to basic features such as protection from viruses, spyware, and malware, it can protect you from phishing scams, block / warn you about unsafe websites or links, and has customizable parental controls so you can restrict children’s Internet access.
