On May 29th, close to 450 Faculty of Education students walked across the stage to receive their degree at the convocation ceremony held on McGill’s main campus. The Hon. Michael A. Meighen, Chancellor of McGill, opened the ceremonial proceedings with the colourful customary procession led by piper Jeff McCarthy. The convocation tent was filled to capacity with proud family members cheering on the graduates as they were ‘capped’ by Principal, Suzanne Fortier, before receiving their academic degree.
As part of the Faculty of Education's 2015 Spring Convocation ceremony, L. Jacques Ménard, lifelong advocate of the importance of education for all, was selected to receive an honorary degree. "We are honouring... individuals with a diverse range of backgrounds, expertise and experience who are united by their exceptional contributions to improving the lives of so many," said Principal Suzanne Fortier. "I am delighted that mcGill is recognizing their vision, achievements and leadership by awarding them the University's highest honour."
