Experiments in physical science in the free fall environment of space

Fri, 2005-04-15 18:00 - 19:00
McCord Museum : 690 rue Sherbrooke Ouest Montreal Quebec Canada , H3A 1E9

Bjarni V. Tryggvason, astronaut. The International Space Station was designed to support science in the free fall environment. While this lofty goal has been hampered by the many challenges, the speaker was able to perform several fluid science experiments while on a 12-day space shuttle mission in 1997. The talk will cover two themes: the personal experience of space flight, and the results of some of the fluid science experiments conducted on the mission and previously on the Mir space station.
