Grammy Award for Nick Squire

Nick Squire (MMus '08) has received Grammy Award in the category of Best Orchestral Performance for his work as Sound Engineer on the recording of Shostakovich: Under Stalin's Shadow - Symphonies Nos. 5, 8 & 9, recorded by Deutsche Grammophon.  The Boston Symphony Orchestra was led by conductor  Andris Nelsons.

Boudreau and Bartók: Classics of their Time

This year, the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ) marks its 50th anniversary and Schulich students will be playing a major part in the celebrations. Notably, the McGill Symphony Orchestra (MGSO) is set to perform parts of Walter Boudreau’s Berliner Momente under direction of the composer himself on the opening night of the SMCQ’s Montréal/New Musiques Festival 2017.

Bombardier loan is just good business

In a recent Huffington Post blog post, Unifor National President Jerry Dias calls out those who criticize Ottawa’s $372.5 million loan to Bombardier, saying that calling for the company to be allowed to crash and burn ignores the fact that it’s one of Canada’s biggest employers; a major player in research and innovation; and a big-ticket contributor to Canada’s GDP, hitting $12.4 billion in 2015 — not to mention the $1.6 billion that Bombardier contributed to Canada through taxes in 2015.

Desautels recognized for innovative business education project

Dr. Ronald Lafrenière appointed Managing Director of McGill’s CFREF Program, Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives

In September 2016, the federal government made an unparalleled investment in research and innovation, announcing $84 million in funding over seven years for McGill’s Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives initiative, as part of the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) program. Following this announcement, a committee for the selection of the HBHL Managing Director engaged in an extensive search and interview process. The Chair of the Selection Committee, Vice-Principal Rosie Goldstein, is now pleased to announce the appointment of Dr.
