Thu, 2005-04-28 18:00
Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club, Vancouver : Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club, Vancouver

The use of social-ethical issues for political ends is now a major election strategy in countries like Canada and the U.S. Such issues include same-sex marriage, abortion and access to health care. Margaret Somerville, Samuel Gale Professor of Law and founding director, Centre for Medicine, Ethics and Law, McGill University, will explore how manipulation of these issues by politicians and the media can influence voting decisions and leave "middle ground" voters with no clear choice of whom to vote for.
