29-year-old the lead agronomist for a Whistler marijuana company

As a 14-year-old loading soil at a Quebec poinsettia greenhouse, David Bernard-Perron [BSc (AES)'12, MSc'15] never would have expected he'd grow up to be the lead agronomist for a marijuana company in Whistler. 

But at 29, that's exactly what he's doing, and the company he works for is at the forefront of quickly growing industry.

The partnership between jazz singer Theo Bleckmann and drummer John Hollenbeck has taken many forms over the years. One month, they may be touring with Prof. Hollenbeck’s Large Ensemble, while not much later, a listener might find them improvising mind-bending duets in front of a rapt audience. Next week, they are set to explore yet another new musical setting during their performance at the Schulich School of Music with McGill’s Jazz Choir.

The Schulich School of Music’s Kelly Rice recently met with pianist and music teacher Catherine Steele (née Thornhill) to discuss her life in music, beginning with her childhood in Newfoundland.  

She is the inspiration behind the Catherine Thornhill Steele Visiting Artist Fund, created by Seymour Schulich in 2005 to honour her.

KANVA wins Saint-Cath Works design competition

KANVA (principals Rami Bebawi and Tudor Radulescu, both MArch 2001) has won the Design Montreal competition Saint-Cath Works held to minimize the impact of the redevelopment of Saint-Catherine Street West. This major construction project, which will begin in spring 2017, involves the repair of underground infrastructures and a new urban design.  The City of Montreal organized the design competition to maintain a quality urban environment on the street during the four-year span of the project.
