Please note, due to the extreme weather conditions, all Library items (regular loans and overnight reserves) that were due on Wednesday, March 15 are now due on Thursday, March 16.  

Overnight reserves will still be due by 1 hour after the circulation desk opens in the respective branches.

Professor Emeritus John J. Jonas - Recipient of prestigious Acta Materialia Gold Medal

On February 28th, 2017, Professor Emeritus John J. Jonas was the recipient of the prestigious Acta Materialia Gold Medal.  Along with a solid, 24 karat, gold medal, Prof. Jonas received a $10,000 USD cash prize. This award recognizes his seminal contributions to understanding phase transformations and dynamic re-crystallization in steel when it is red hot and flying through a rolling mill at 100 km/hr.

Macdonald Campus Seed Library Breaking New Ground March 20

On March 20, 2017, the first day of spring, the Macdonald Campus Library at McGill University will officially launch a seed library. The Macdonald Campus Seed Library is the first academic seed library of its kind in Quebec and third in Canada. The library serves the entire McGill community.

Classes cancelled Wednesday March 15

Because of the difficult weather and transportation issues caused by the blizzard, classes on both our campuses will be cancelled for the remainder of today, March 15, including evening courses. Tests and exams will be rescheduled as necessary. Managers are asked to understand that some staff who managed to get into work today might have to leave earlier than normal. The shuttle bus to and from Macdonald Campus will be operating as of 11:30 a.m., but understandably, will face challenges adhering to its normal schedule. We thank everyone for their understanding. Stay safe!

Phishing scam: "1 New Message"

There is a phishing email circulating to users with the subject "1 New Message". This email prompts users to renew their McGill account information in order not to lose access to their email services. Users are asked to click on a fraudulent link to update their account information. See an example of this phishing message below

Consulting Magazine names Desautels grad a 2017 rising star

Consulting Magazine has released its 2017 Rising Stars of the Profession 35 Under 35 list, and number 34 on that list is KPMG’s Matthew O’Connell, who is named for Excellence in Financial Services. Mr. O’Connell works in the company’s Forensic Advisory Services Practice, where he deals in anti-corruption, regulatory compliance and conflict minerals. He has taken point on several big-ticket investigations in a multitude of nations.
