Education Awards Reception honours student scholarships, fellowships

Award winners, donors, staff and Education faculty members gathered Tuesday, March 31st to honour more than 25 students selected for Scholarships, Fellowships and Awards during the 2014-15 academic year. The event marked an opportunity for students to meet face-to-face with the donors who have contributed to their academic pursuits. All in attendance were reminded of the great impact that these generous awards can have on the life, career and development of the fortunate recipients.

Prof. Brett Meyer named 'Prof. of the year' by ECSESS

Professor Brett Meyer was voted ‘Professor of the Year’ by our ECE undergraduate students at the ECSESS Banquet on April 1st, 2015 (which had record attendance from the student and strong attendance from the professoriate). This is a great recognition of all of Brett’s efforts with students inside and outside the classroom.

The Chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Prof. Andrew Kirk, is proud to announce that Prof. Thomas Szkopek has won the Carrie M. Derick Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Supervision. This is in recognition of Prof. Szkopek's devoted efforts in working with his graduate students. This is very well deserved. Prof. François Bouffard participated in the expert roundtable on renewable energies associated with the drafting of the 2016-2025 Québec energy policy

On March 30, twelve experts, including Prof. François Bouffard, from the Department and TISED, met to discuss their vision for the future of renewable energy in Québec, present proposals and build consensus. Two topics have been discussed: 1) bioenergy and heat sources (including solar heat and geothermal energy), 2) electricity (including wind energy).
