McGill BCom students came in second overall and placed first in academic events at the 15th annual Jeux du Commerce, held from January 17-19 at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, in Hull. McGill BCom students had their best showing in 15 years, placing first in the academic competitions (Human Resources, Finance and Debate), and came in second and third in seven other events.
This year's Commerce and Administration Students' Charity Organization fundraiser, held on November 22, 2003, at Le Medley, was a tremendous success. The event attracts around 700 people, including prominent business executives, influential government officials, researchers, academics, news media, and McGill students.
Professor Wonseok Oh receives Best Paper award at Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences
McGill Information Systems professor Wonseok Oh, along with co-author Michael J. Gallivan from Georgia State University, received the Best Paper award at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS) in January 2004 for his paper entitled "An Empirical Assessment of Transactional Risks of IT Outsourcing."
McGill MBA grad Brooke Fishback teams up and wins International Diversity prize in the University of San Francisco Plan Competition
Brooke Fishback, McGill MBA'03, along with Poul La Cour from the Copenhagen Business School, Denmark, and Oren Shrem from Tel Aviv Graduate School of Management, Israel, teamed up to participate in the University of San Francisco Graduate School of Management 2003 International Business Plan Competition this past April 9-12.
Organized by the Women's Y Foundation of Montreal, the Women of Distinction Gala publicly recognizes exceptional Montreal women who have distinguished themselves by their personal or professional achievements, their social commitment and their contribution to the advancement of women. Professor Mary Dean Lee is a finalist in the Business and Professions category. The Women of Distinction Gala will be held on April 23, 2003.

McGill management Honours in Accounting students win Concours universitaire de cas en analyse financière, édition 2002-2003
McGill second-year Honours in Accounting students Aurélie Daoust-Lalonde, Adrian Brown, Charles Mercier, Vincent Nicolette and Eric St-Pierre were announced winners of the CCA case competition yesterday in an event held at the Mount Stephen Club. The competition, which lasted a whole term, examined a major business decision issue in the setting of an existing Quebec company. The McGill team has been recognized, among others, for the thoroughness of its quantitative analysis and the originality of its proposed solutions. This is the third major case competition this year in which McGill Honours in Accounting students have reached the podium. They finished first in the Queen's School of Business ICBC competition in January and third in the Commerce Games in January.

Professor Bob Hebdon (Industrial Relations) awarded SSHRC grant, and Industrial Relations Research Association accepts his workshop on privatization
Prof. Hebdon recently was awarded a three-year Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant to study workplace conflict in Canada. This research will build on his earlier work on conflict and will be performed with Prof. Jean-Guy Bergeron of Université de Montréal. Prof. Hebdon's proposal for a workshop on privatization was accepted by the Program Committee of the 57th Annual Meeting of the Industrial Relations Research Association, to be held in Philadelphia in January of 2005.
At the 15th annual Networking Dinner, with this year's theme "Rare Pearls," the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal paid tribute to 33 exceptional and authentic women from various sectors of activity who have distinguished themselves through their commitment and exceptional accomplishments. The prestigious annual event took place at the Hilton Montreal Bonaventure Hotel on Thursday, June 5, 2003. Dr. Adler was selected as one of the rare pearls amongst the 33 who were paid tribute to during this event.
