The Board of Governors will approve the recommendations for tenure for the 2007 cohort at the end of this May. However, contracts for candidates undergoing consideration in this group will, in some cases, expire on or prior to May 31.
The Principal and the Provost today announced, via ALNOTE, the appointment of Professor Christopher P. Manfredi as Dean of the Faculty of Arts for a five-year term, renewable, starting 1 June 2006 and ending 31 August 2011. The advisory process for the selection of a Dean of Arts has been long and rigorous. Many outstanding candidates, both internal and external to McGill, were considered. Professor Chris Manfredi was unanimously recommended by the advisory committee because of his superb academic achievements, his demonstrated concern for students, and his careful and creative administrative service to his department.
The convocation ceremonies for Fall 2006 will be held November 10 at Place des Arts. There will be two ceremonies: at 9:30 am for all undergraduate students and those graduating from the Centre for Continuing Education, and at 3:30 pm for all students receiving graduate degrees.
