The annual reference period for performance dialogue is June 1 to May 31. Your performance dialogue discussions should already be underway. If not scheduled, start in the very near future.

Members of McGill's Faculty of Law participated prominently in the XVIIth Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law, held in Utrecht, July 16-22, 2006.
We were delighted to hear that alumnus Pierre-Hugues Verdier has been named a Trudeau Scholar for his research project entitled "Extraterritorial Jurisdiction and Customary International Law: A Reappraisal." It is an assessment of the current state of international customary law with respect to the legality of extraterritorial acts, stressing its uncertain nature. He questions how interdisciplinary research, particularly in the field of international relations, can shed light on jurisdictional issues related to economic globalization.
Professor Frédéric Bachand has been awarded the 2006 Walter Owen Book Prize recognizing excellent legal writing and rewarding outstanding new contributions to Canadian legal literature for his book "L'intervention du juge canadien avant et durant un arbitrage commercial."
