We were delighted to hear that alumnus Pierre-Hugues Verdier has been named a Trudeau Scholar for his research project entitled "Extraterritorial Jurisdiction and Customary International Law: A Reappraisal." It is an assessment of the current state of international customary law with respect to the legality of extraterritorial acts, stressing its uncertain nature. He questions how interdisciplinary research, particularly in the field of international relations, can shed light on jurisdictional issues related to economic globalization.
Professor Frédéric Bachand has been awarded the 2006 Walter Owen Book Prize recognizing excellent legal writing and rewarding outstanding new contributions to Canadian legal literature for his book "L'intervention du juge canadien avant et durant un arbitrage commercial."
We are pleased to report the double publication of Professor Khoury's book, Uncertain Causation in Medical Liability.
